The collection of household plastics with the Bring Plastic Back collection system continued to develop successfully in 2025. In over 620 Swiss municipalities, 9,402 tonnes of plastic were collected and recycled - 312 tonnes more than in the previous year.
The increase is due to the introduction of the collection in more municipalities. The collection bags are now available at 1,431 points of sale and can be handed in at 715 collection points.
Recycling replaced 4,701 tonnes of virgin material and saved over 14 million litres of crude oil.
Non-recyclable mixed plastics were used as substitute fuel in the Swiss cement industry. A total of 26,608 tonnes of CO₂ were avoided in this way - an important contribution to resource conservation and climate protection.
The new Packaging Ordinance, which could come into force as early as mid-2026, will also change the framework conditions for the collection of plastic packaging and beverage cartons from households. For this reason, InnoRecycling AG, with its Bring Plastic Back collection system, has decided to become a member of RecyPac and promote the strengthening of the cycle and the uniform collection of plastic packaging and beverage cartons within the industry organisation. With the RecyBag, RecyPac provides the connection solution for the Bring Plastic Back collection system.
